Mechanical Chain Base 003 (Display Kit)

Mechanical Chain Base 003 (Display Kit)

Kotobukiya delivered a modular, snap-fitting, color-molded do-it-yourself Mechanical Chain Base 003 kit. Panel lines, cable wiring, circuit boxes, doors, aircraft carrier-like platform, bomb trailer, fuel truck, etc. were re-created in a small scale. Not sure about the scale, but the base fits any 1/144 kit. The 1/144 Kampfer Amazing found Zephyranthes Full Burnern in its crosshair in the 2nd last photo. 1/72 aircrafts like the VF-11B in the last photo is too big for 2 bases. 4 bases will fit it nicely.

Bandai got you covered in showing off & photographing your chogokins with the Soul Stage Act Soul of Chogokin. The stage is a very well made & sturdy item. Modular design. All parts were factory colored in black & precut. The stage can accommodate a figure up to 15Wx18Dx27H in cm with the back wall removed. Subtract 2cm in depth with the wall installed. The base has a large box for storing accessories. Plenty of details for painting & weathering. No, the Five Star Stories figure wasn't included.

Bandai nailed it with the Chogokin Aquarion Evol action figure. Almost. Top-notch packaging & accessories. No stand for figure, but 2 for Mugen Attack & Solar Wing. Above average paint job. Bottom heavy, thanks to the diecast parts of the legs & torso. Swapping out hands was so hard that I broke one elbow cap. Some flimsy parts. Screws in joints. If you play with this figure, you'll break it. If you pose it, it will be fine. The engineer or designer couldn't decide whether it was an action figure or a display figure.

Bandai released the OVA version of Glasgow, Code Geass in the form of Robot Spirits. Professional engineering & packaging. Color molding. Factory-painted camouflage. Screws in joints. Smooth articulation. Excellent action figure. The only downsides are the arms that can't rotate except for the hands & the closed & shot-out chest Slash Harkens that fall off constantly. Otherwise, an authentic replication.

Muv-Luv Alternative 1/144 Takemikazuchi Type-00R (Plastic kit)

Muv-Luv Alternative 1/144 Takemikazuchi Type-00R (Plastic kit)

Engineering scale models since 1983, Kotobukiya portrayed the Takemikazuchi in a realistic form. The mecha hovering around the ground & flying in a squad formation in the anime is a sight to behold. This model has a few color versions. The red version is 00F Takamura Yui. The kit is comparable to a gunpla high grade. I'm liking Kotobukiya's scale models.

Kotobukiya outdid itself by adapting the original Jehuty to a scale model. No small feat. See my Vic Viper review too. Both kits are comparable to Gunpla Master Grade. I think the overcomplicated assembly meant to hide seam lines & skip painting. No putty used. I airbrushed, flew through the panel lines with thinned light blue & black, lightly weathered with Tamiya & applied a semi gloss. A work of art. I enjoyed the challenge.

Producer Katsuhisa Yamaguchi realized the look & spirit of the original, possibly early TV version, mecha in Kaiyodo's Revoltech Getter 1 Renewal. As usual, professional clamshell packaging. Real model box art. 3 pairs of hands. 2 axes. A customizable cape with 4 pieces. This cape sets this figure apart from other figures without capes. 3 effect parts. An accessory box. A plain clear stand. Shiny but less than stellar paint job. Mechanical articulation. The junk yard stand wasn't included. A nice addition to your shelf.

Kotobukiya engineered the Zone Of The Enders Vic Viper scale model kit for Konami. Big packaging. Artistic illustrations. Japanese magazine-like instructions. Computer-drawn & real model photos diagrams. A bit over-complicated assembly. Color molding. Snap fitting. Water decals. I airbrushed, panel lined, heavily weathered (Tamiya), sealed the model. The kit can transform between the mecha & fighter plane. The mecha can fall off due to being top heavy. An exclusive stand is included.

Bandai Robot Spirits Plan 1055 Burial is a faithful interpretation of the Full Metal Panic mecha. Professional packaging with clamshells protecting the figure, accessories & stand or action base. Japanese literature. Snap-fitting either of the 2 sets of hands & installing the large bow weapon. Brilliant paint job. Smooth articulation. The figure looks stunning in an in-flight pose drawing the bow.

Bandai's Robot Spirits Spear Head is an Eureka Seven action figure. Nicely packaged in clamshells with 2 sets of hands, 2 detachable arm swords & 1 extra head spear. Color molded. Factory built & touched up. Smooth articulation. Compatible with Bandai action base which is not included. The opening cockpit is a bonus. No pilot. The figure looks best in a in-flight post on a stand.
