A very special large size nanoblock construction set of Neuschwanstein Castle - the 19th-century Gothic Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner.

The ultimate Nanoblock project! I've built lots of Nanoblock sets but this tops them all.

I read a lot of reviews before buying Neuschwanstein and many complained about missing pieces; in my experience, if you're missing blocks at the end of the build, you've done something wrong and need to go back over your work. It does need close attention to the instructions, and a magnifying glass helps when studying them too.

I made some alterations, especially to the stairs from the lower courtyard to the upper. There's a single wide stairway in reality, not a narrow bifurcated one as depicted in this model. I also added the tree in the upper courtyard which appears in many photos of the castle. I made the chimney-pots taller and added 'camel' coloured pieces to the spires and palace roof ends.

The lighting is spectacular but those units go through batteries (nine AAA's)fairly quickly and they're a pain to replace

Finally I'd recommend making a base for it to sit on, especially if you're going to move it around a lot.

Recommended!

After building my first Nanoblock, the Zebra, me and my girlfriend looked for their biggest set and we got this one :)
As others allready have pointed out this set requires a great deal of organisation to get it right, but for us that's half of the fun!
It may be small, but it's still big enough for two persons to build so it's a good set for friends or couples.
Plamoya delivered the castle on time and in good condition. All the parts to complete the set and a lot of extra pieces were included.

An impressive piece of work, love the changing light colors, enjoy seeing the formation and building of the tower and staircase. Looking forward to the completion.
